Games Global (Microgaming) · 2014 · quest bonus (8 stages)
Avalon II: an eight stage quest on a phone you have to turn
No portrait build, 2.3 seconds to load, and a bonus structure that runs across eight separate stages. On a small screen that is a lot of state to keep track of.
The phone check
Sideways is the only layout and the buttons are built for it. Fine in two hands, awkward hanging off a pole on the subway. The demo pulls about 10 MB before the first tap registers, which on a poor bar is where the 2.3 s goes. Getting money back out is a separate count and we keep it at cashout.
One build, one return figure
Games Global (Microgaming) licenses a single build of this one, at 95.92%. The figure in the game's rules footer will match the figure above, every time. That is not true of the 123 titles here that ship in more than one configuration.
The quest needs the width
Each grail stage opens its own overlay with its own rules, and the progress trail runs horizontally. Fold that into a portrait viewport and the trail becomes unreadable, which is presumably why Games Global did not try. Sideways it is legible and the controls are fine.
2.3 seconds, around the board median.
Numbers
95.92% on a single licensed build, thirty cents a spin, about 67 spins on a twenty. Medium volatility, 2,100x ceiling, 243 ways on 5x3. Sixty seven spins will not get you through the quest.
