The arithmetic

How to avoid losing money gambling

Over enough bets every house-banked game loses money. That is the design, and nothing on this page changes it.

What you can control is how much and how quickly: the game you pick, the stake, the pace and the stopping rule.

The four levers, in order of size

Stopping rule first. Decide the number before you open the app and stop at it. Nothing else on the list comes close in effect.

Then pace. Turbo spin and auto-play double the bets per hour, which doubles the cost per hour at the same stake.

Then game choice. Half a percent versus five percent is a factor of ten on the same money.

Then stake. Obvious, and the one people move in the wrong direction under pressure.

The tools inside the app

Every operator on a provincial register ships deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders and a cooling-off switch. On the apps we have torn down these sit between two and five taps into settings.

Set them when you are calm. A limit you set on a Tuesday afternoon is a limit that is still there on Friday night, and the reverse never works.

The thing nobody says

Chasing is not a character flaw, it is what the product is engineered to produce. Losses feel like a debt and a debt feels like something you can settle, so the next bet goes on.

If that pattern is familiar, the take a break page has the phone-level steps and the free Canadian helplines. No app links on it, and no redirects.
