What is a casino deposit bonus?
A deposit bonus adds a percentage of your deposit as bonus funds, up to a maximum. A 100% match up to C$500 means C$200 in gets you C$200 of bonus.
Whether that is worth anything depends entirely on the wagering attached, which is printed in smaller type than the match rate.
Reading the headline
Two numbers: the match percentage and the cap. To get the full cap on a 100% match you have to deposit the whole cap, which is a much bigger commitment than the advertisement implies.
Match rates above 100% look generous and usually carry heavier playthrough. A 200% match at 50x is a worse deal than a 50% match at 15x, on any deposit size.
The three terms that decide it
Wagering multiplier, and whether it applies to the bonus alone or deposit plus bonus. Game weighting. Expiry.
Then a fourth that people miss: is the bonus sticky or non-sticky? Sticky bonus funds cannot be withdrawn at all, only what they win. Non-sticky sits separately and lets you withdraw your own deposit at any time, which is a materially better structure.
Claiming it on a phone
Most offers now toggle at the cashier during the deposit. Some still need a code typed into a box, and a handful only expose the bonus field on the desktop cashier, which means the whole claim cannot be done from a handset.
